I work with seafarers every day. Since I have become a doctor this is one of those duties that I have always enjoyed. Mostly because things are clear cut but I guess I had other reasons. One of them is to be able to help my dad if he needs me or if one of his friends ever need me. Now that he is gone I see him in all of my patients from the fresh faced cadets , to those who are newly promoted and to those who are about to retire. I see his face in all of them, imagining how he must have been like as he goes through one physical after another in the course of his career. How nervous he must have been the first time he did it and how as he got older it got even more nerve wracking knowing that a single pending or unfit could screw up plans and delay work for weeks or months when a lot of people were counting on you. I emphatize with the seafarers in this way and probably I am a lot tougher on them as well when they disregard their health issues or even arbitrarily stop drinking medications because they feel like they do not need it. My dad had my mom who was very conscious about their health, their laboratory and check up runs were one of the things they bonded on I believe. Much like my wife and I bond over our grocery and bills payment runs. My dad was also a very wise man who would often worry about the future because it was in his nature to foresee things. He drank his meds though it frustrated him at times and I remember one time when my mom handed him a fist full of pills that included his maintenance meds and supplements. "Di kaya magchemical reaction lahat sa tiyan ko yan?" I had to look at all the contraindications of his meds and supplements to reassure him. He drank his meds but two years after mom has gone I knew that it was slowly eating away at him. Despite appearances he missed her dearly. He would often talk to me about her. Discuss their issues and his sense of loss. I would listen as best as I could. 

In the end I wished that I had been able to talk to him in person when he got back. Planning to see him and actually seeing him finally when he got home were two different realities because we would not be able to see him as we planned for that friday. I try and not picture him in that casket, instead I picture him with my mom knowing that he will find peace there. And for a time I tried to quit my job with seafarers knowing that they would remind me of him so much. I had to take a leave of absence of 6 months to be able to fix a lot of things for him. Even then for him. When I got back I thought that I would not be able to work properly but I was actually happy. I realized after all this time that for as long that I work in this profession I will always remember him and my mom who was constantly with him. The dead are never gone until the last person whom they have touchef in their lifetime is gone. And for as I can work I will always choose this line. All because I will always remember you Mom and Dad.

I am lucky to be a part of a game group that has a lot of mad brewers. The type who sees a card and then like a lunatic is unable to sleep until he or she gets pieces to complete a usually lethal combo. Jus is one of those people and we have been talking about the debut of his Varina deck.

I have come face to face with it and finally seen how awesome Varina is as an Esper Zombie commander. One of things I liked was the wonderful synergy of Wayward Servant , Rooftop Storm , Liliana , Untouched by Death and self sacrificing creatures like Carrion Feeder and Nantuko Husk. I was not really sure what Jus used to finish every body off(it sounds dirty I know) but it involved casting a zombie from the graveyard via Liliana , Untouched by Death's 3rd ability and Rooftop storm making the casting cost for free. And then the Wayward Servant does his Malabanan Jr's thing of sucking the life of everyone.

I had to clap at this combo and had to make sure that my Bojuka Bog would be handy the next time around. #Neveragain.

Said many Netizens as they read the headlines on the local papers or meme's on their news feeds on facebook.

"Korean to be taught in Philippine curriculum"

While many netizens have spewed hate on this topic there seems to be a disconnect as to what is really happening as opposed to what is really going on.

Here are 3 things that I have seen online regarding Hangul being taught in our shores.

1) Korean will not be taught in ALL schools except for 10 selected public schools. Yup. Just 10 selected schools.

Kalayaan High School

Pasay City National Science High School

San Bartolome High School

North Fairview High School

Maligaya High School

Judge Feliciano Belmonte Sr. High School

Lagro High School

Makati High School

Do you see your school in that list? Then bad luck. You and your bias will have to talk through an interpreter when and if you will ever meet. They will start with 10 schools. Not as a nationwide program and do you want to know why? They are testing the waters if many will be able to study this language. 

2)  Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL) are Elective classes.

ELECTIVE. 

An elective course in school is one you take because you want to rather than to fill a particular requirement, although you still get credit for it. You can take elective classes in high school or college. In fact, the word elective is sometimes used as a noun, to mean "optional class."

Ayan. Choice mo kung gusto mong kunin yung language na yan. Also may French , German , Nihonggo , Mandarin at Spanish na Elective. No one raised so much fuss about these other languages don't you think or is it because most people who are barking like some sort of keyboard nationalist did not bother to know about it?

3) Not for everyone.

Want to learn Hangul? You still need to be a  Grade 7 to 12 student with certified mastery of the English and Filipino languages before you will be allowed to study Korean language.

Siyempre hirap ka nga sa basic languages eh magdadagdag ka pa ng pangatlo. Paano ka natulungan nun? You have you to show that you have the capacity to learn the elective because this gives you a better chance of further study or work opportunities in that country.

Amazingly people have had a spark of nationalism in them and like the famed ningas cogon will be out  in a couple of weeks when another issue arises. Mark my words.

I just want to implore everyone to please be more informed. The time it takes you to comment can be better spent informing yourself on these topics rather than reacting on an inflammatory tweet or meme. Meme's are not facts. Your feelings are not facts. Read just a little bit more. Just a little.

That hook is just really addictive and one merely has to listen to that to be interested enough to listen to the song the whole 3 minutes. Then again EXID fans don't need a reason to keep on watching.

The song welcomes back member Solji who has been out due to hyperthyroidism and I for one am happy to see her back. I always like it when idols overcome a medical condition to be able to comeback.

The MV opens to Hani put it what looks like security tapes to see what has happened to all of the members after a night of drinking. Hani is on the floor of some bathroom , Jeong -hwa on a burger couch , Le dipped in an ice cream box ,Hyejin taped to a wall with colorful duct tape. Solji trying to go home on a train and trying not to...ah well. 

The videos gives off hilarious vibes as EXID tries to dance with hangovers and have bouts of headaches and retching when they do especially that point choreography where they rotate their heads backward. 

I know someone who would probably not watch this video because of all the enacted retching but that just makes it all the more funny for me thinking how that person would react. 

In the end Hani ends up cleaning up the mess by editing the final tape so that EXID comes out sexy and pretty and not the mess that they were the previous night. A nice come back for these five girls and a nice send off for the year.

One of my play groupmates in Centris runs a Dimir or should I say SNEAK deck that has it's head Phoebe at the helm. Yo has been using it annoy the living hell out of everyone when he begins stealing Text Boxes left and right. While I do enjoy it when Phoebe gobbles up an erring Nekusar or Jeleva. I do hate it when it eats my own commander and I end up with Vanilla 2/2 or 6/6 bear commanders that do absolutely nothing.

You can say why allow an Unstable Commander in the playgroup? Because that is how we roll. One of our members also has an X as a commander. I guess it is satisfying to beat such decks when you are able to and for me it is not about winning all the time. What is more important for me is to be able to say that I enjoyed the game win or loss. To be able to say na Mesherep.

On  one particular game Yo was able to eat the Text of Azusa and Oracle of Muldaya. To be able to play 4 lands in quick succession was something that he was not able to do in a Blue Black deck so you can say that that was indeed a Mesherep moment. I was not sure who won that game but seeing something happen like that makes me happy to no end.

Much has been said about Ultimate Masters. And I will say it here again. Ultimate Masters is a cash grab. And like all greedy corporations Wotc has made a product that the richer nerds can afford. And with the way these boxes have been disappearing. Well. It seems that we are in store for a lot more price increase in the coming years. They tested the waters and the waters are full of biting fish. Along with sharks. So what have I seen this past week regarding Ultimate Masters?

1) Some Nerds are richer than other Nerds.

I was tempted to buy this product. It was tempting with a lot of the reprints that I wanted and those darn box toppers. I just had to stop myself from swiping my credit card or my wife from swiping hers because I could see that she was about to buy me a box regardless of how much I cost. I walked away.

Does this mean I don't want anything to do with the set? With the prices of the boosters and boxes I think I would be better off buying the individual pieces that I like than getting a box topper Stirring Wildwood or Lavaclaw Reaches. I already have enough copies of those.

2) This product is not for you.

Yeah. I have always thought about this divide that exists in Magic but I have never felt it as much as I have this past few weeks. Hey I should not have to worry. I have the money to buy this but it makes me sad that not anyone could. I mean one of the times that I enjoyed opening packs was when I played Sealed with my Eton Centris Playgroupmates and Team Virulence. 

Opening a box or fat bundle is awesome but it feels a lot better when you and your friends can play against each other with cards that you can all buy fairly.

3) People will still buy.

Like my wife told me this is just like the latest Iphone or Video game. You can read a lot of hate. A lot of bad reviews but the people with the money will still buy it mainly because they could. 

And so we are set on an ever constricting spiral staircase. Will people stop playing Magic in the future because cards will be financially restrictive? Will players finally realize the monster that we are now feeding? I hope it does not take people leaving the game they love to make WotC realize that they have control over this and that they can still make a product that includes everyone.

When I first read of the title of this song I took it quite literally. YG was giving Jennie a solo project hence the title. Well it did not have to stop there of course. Solo is about a person breaking free from what seems to be a very controlling and possessive relationship. This is shown by a couple of elements in the MV such as Jennie walking out the mansion which symbolizes her trapped status , her snapping off a pink bracelet , her taking off her white dress in the laundromat and putting on something else as she exits. And the car that she rode on which literally has the line Better off without.

YG did more than the usual stops on this one making sure that MV has everything that it will ever need to showcase Jennie. A Manor in London and all the expensive dresses not to mention the extremely high quality of the MV itself.

There have been some comparisons to Sunmi's Gashina with some people even muting the dance video and seeing it sync up to that song. However I think that this song had a heavy Dua Lipa feel to it and with the recent collaboration between BP and her I think this might have been one of those by products.

The song is catchy  and with over 50 millions views on youtube one cannot go wrong with liking it. Blinks the world over have supported this dance track and Jennie have proven that she can go Solo with the right support. The comparisons with 2ne1 will probably never end but at least BP has shown that this is really their time. As a group or Solo Artists one has to acknowledge that they are their own level of monsters.

I have always wanted to make a Boros deck but I have never found the concept that I really wanted until I saw the foil Aurelia of the new Boros Guild Kit.

One card came to mind and I was able to get two in my box.I wanted to play Helm of the host so badly.

My friends were telling me how Zurgo helm smasher became a lot more dangerous equipped with this or how Trostani could just keep on making copies of himself and you keep on gaining tons of life.

However I was most excited with Aurelia who seems like she can end all of your opponents in the right conditions. So let us see what happens. It takes a lot of great timing to pull this off.

You equip Aurelia The Warleader with a Helm of the Host on your Main Phase. The Helm creates a non legendary copy of Aurelia. You attack with the equipped Aurelia which makes it untapped and gives you an additional combat phase which also gives you another Aurelia token. Attack with the original Aurelia and the 1st token that just attacked for the first time this turn and so you get to untap and have another attack phase and....Well you know where this is going right?

Keep on attacking until all of your opponents have been murdered by Boros Angels. Ah if only I can pull this off soon.

Time to fine tune the Boros EDH deck.

Dear not so smart murderer,

Why oh why do you have to pull put things from your big toe when you are not trained to do so? Even surgeons see the insanity of operating on themselves and yet you with all your smarts have decided to mutilate your big toe and then demand that we send you home. 

We can give you medicines. I can probably do and incision and drainage but it seems that your heart is set on going home despite being able to work. Of course my heart is also set on not letting you go home. Guess who wins? 

So next time you get the urge to "murder" your toe just get one of the nice ladies in the parlor to do it. Not only are they more experienced and qualified to do this than you but they would gladly do it for a fraction of the sum that it took for you to have such a bad day.

I often am not surprised by a Infect since I was one of the people who promoted and played with the mechanic to no end. Of course it does not mean that my creative play group mates are not able to surprise me with Infect wins. As is often the case in EDH games I am the first to be taken out with the oppurtunity presents itself.

We had just welcomed Jethro back into the fold after almost 2 months or so of no Magic and he had to start off with a new Gruul deck headed by Mina and Denn Wildborn. Basically since it also had Azusa and Oracle of Muldaya the plan was to play as many lands as possible.

I have joked that it might be a Rude Awakening Deck with all the lands but I was in for another Infect Surprise. I should have guessed that Jethro would go for that win since he already had an Inkmoth Nexus already in play. So when I had no flyers in play he animated the Inkmoth and pumped it with the Blood Rush Mechanice from a Rubblehulk! And since he already had 10 lands in play. It was 11 Infect damage.

Bula.Always something Gruul with you Jethro. Always something Gruul.

Attending a child's baptismal can both be interesting and boring. When I was young I must have been dragged by my mom to dozens of these things but I think I paid more attention to the food and the fact that my mom was happy to have me there with her than to care about the said baptismal. 

Fast forward to Aven and her 2nd time to be a Ninang. Since it was like a father-daughter date this time around I finally got to hear a lot of what was going on. Here are the three things I have learned.

1) Only the Child. 

The white dresses/clothes that symbolizes the purity of the baptized child should only be worn after the the child has actually been baptized. In short you don't doll up the child in an elaborate three piece ensemble at home which as far as I remember has been the norm. Weird.

2) Names.

People nowadays give weirder and weirder names. Since you can see this pinned on the parents and you try to say it out loud and it just sounds off. I mean how do you really pronounce Khyeil Jhazztinne? or maybe explain to a child that he is named Kobe Link Drexler? Or why his name is the backwards name of his father like in the case of Alucard?

Bahala na ang magulang.

I just amused myself by watching the priest conducting the baptismal rites furrow his eyebrows while thinking of how to pronounce a name and just give up and ask the parent to say the child's name out loud.

3) White.

The person being baptized is the child in your hands so in other words they should be the only one's wearing white. If you have everyone in your family who is attending this baptism wear all white it looks like a damn funeral. So please. Leave your white outfits at home and let the child have the spotlight. After all it is her or his baptismal.

On my way out of my last duty an Attractive lady guard greets me at elevator lobby as I was waiting for my ride down. Lady guard goes up to me and says.

"Doc Magpasecond opinion sana ako sa bukol ko."

Before I can say anything she unbuttons the top of her blouse and shows me a cyst right in the middle of her breasts.

And automatically I checked if the mass is fixed or full before realizing that I might have been caught in the CCTV.

Mahirap talaga maging doktor. Nagrereact na lang bigla bigla.

During it's earlier days it has been no secret that the company that manages Bish has always tried to with really weird and shocking concepts for them but now that I feel that they are more established the groups has been moving more on focusing on their great music and Stereo future is proof of that. You have the trade mark Bish sound with powerful vocals , rock themes interspersed with a strong pianist and orchestra.

This MV focuses on the theme of Isolation and you see all the members in one trapped place after another. The whole MV I believe was shot in an abandoned mine or quarry and I get the feeling that the other shots were in the same area. The feel of shooting this MV in black and white gives it a more elegant feel and shows the different environments in a more dark feel.

Aina the End(still my favorite) opens with a shot of the expansive quarry  , Hug Mii is in a meditative pool that opens up to a large square , Sentochihiro is in a place of rough hewn stone stairs , Ling Ling is in a dark forest , Ayuni D is in part of the quarry that is filled with what looks like rubble of the facility.The bespectacled Hashiyasume is in a small brick hut. 

You get the feeling that regardless of the place these girls are isolated and alone , it can be as expansive(the quarry or forest) or as small (the meditative garden ,brick hut or rubble room) but the fact remains that they are all alone. With some being brought into Madness(Aina) , Loneliness( Hug Mii and Hashiyasume) , Fear(LingLing) and Anger/Desperation (Ayuni D). 

It seems like in this video , the leader Sentochihiro is the only one who ascends from the depths of her isolation. Showcased by her climbing the stone stair case emerging into yet into another expansive space and you feel that there is some distance if she can ever reach her other members but she does.

And the first she reaches is the frustrated Ayuni D who has injured her cheek.Hug Mii reaches Hashiyasume in the brick Hut and Aina who has been shown walking on despite her madness reaches Ling Ling in the Dark forest.

That solo shot of Sentochihiro  with the 5 others in the back is cool in that sense that you know that they have been gathered from their isolation.In the end they are shown by pairs and then as a whole group walking out. Ever together.

In a game that involves a ton of goblins and an ever increasing curve Goblin Goliath can be considered as the end of that curve.

For 4 colorless Mana and a 2 Red Goblin comes into play with Goblins and probably plenty of it depending on how many opponents you have. Let us safely assume that you can get 3 1/1 tokens.

The 6 mana price tag is almost negligible in a battlefield full of goblins and Skirk Prospector. Assuming that you have a lot of goblins ready to attack and something like Fervor already in play.

For 4 mana Goblin Goliath can be activated to act like a Furnace of Rath where an opponent can take double damage until end of turn. And so ends an opponent if you are able to set up things properly.

I initially wanted to improve my Gisa and Geralf zombie deck but for some reason I found myself putting it off until the day of our agreed Halloween themed deck only EDH match.

I decided to go with a deck that I have shelved for awhile now because I felt that it lacked the ooomph in my competitive group. Now that the themed called for non-control type decks I finally got to use my Kulto ni Hunyo aka Parokya ni Hunyo deck that featured Shadowborn Apostles who summoned Demons just for fun. And at the helm of it was Shirei , Shinzo's care taker who made sure that the sacrificed Apostles could come back at the end of turns. 

So a Black Spirit guarding a haunted place , Cultists who summon demons and Demons. Yeah I pretty much hit a lot of the Halloween theme.

What I discovered this time around was that this deck can still be improved and that I should really not have gutted my mana bases. And that cards from Core 19 fit in nicely with this deck that I am all excited to infuse it with the new cards and add a lot of sacrifice outlets.

My only win of the night comes from the heels of Janry taking out Yo and my Apostles already beefed up into 4/4s and attacking.

There is so much to add to this Cult of mine. Next week might be it's revamped state.

I am sure that it was just a very silly mistake on his part but being pinoys I also think that we went down hard on him for this mistake. So as it goes Cesar Montano was a greeting a Kagawad from Sta.Ana and he sent out this video message without checking that a girl on his upper right corner seemingly came out of the bathroom naked and took what seemed like a towel in the nearby table.

1) The Naked lady.

People say that it is the current woman that lives with Mr. Montano. They should really talk about bathing schedules.

or when Mr. Montano should record himself. 

2) The Video

Mr. Montano didn't even check before sending the video out as many have noticed but can someone actually make that mistake? Many of us do. Just because you look cute in that bathroom selfie does not mean that you should not be mindful of your surroundings. Check before you post.

3) The Aftermath

Embarassing? Yes. Could anyone make the mistake? Probably not. It follows that you should have a hot female companion to do so and well we are not all Cesar Montano's to achieve that.

I guess lesson learned for Mr. Montano here. Check any video messages before sending it out.

A patient comes in and  complains of nose bleeding. Since I had my doubts I had patient stay at clinic , did nasal packing and asked to have a cold compress at the bridge of her nose. 

When I checked on the patient later on I saw that she was holding the cold compress on the side of her head.

With the news of Yui-Metal officially leaving the group to pursue her own career options Baby Metal continues with just Su-Metal and MoA-Metal and their management group has to come up with a concept that will both satisfy fans and explain Yui-metal from the Baby metal/ Fox God continuity.

And so the other 7 were born. This is the 2nd video that features them and though I want to see in what shape or form the last remaining Baby Metal members would appear in in the future I am at least intrigued by these new comers. 

The quality of the Baby Metal songs have not diminished and I believe became more polished with just the duo , it has become more serious as they have shifted from the little girl shoutings to the growls that you now hear. 

The visuals of the 7 battling/ struggling in the desert is also a nice touch. It makes me wonder where the fox god will lead them in the future. Is the Fox God the Starlight that they seek or is it something else entirely?

I probably need one more Baby Metal MV to answer that. Hmmmm
