"Pauper Kings:Abzan Counter Piling 2014"

"Pauper Kings:Abzan Counter Piling 2014"

I read somewhere that the Abzan were like a bunch of Slivers in Standard. Tough Slivers that get abilities from others of their tribe as long as they have a +1/+1 counter on them. I wonder if that would translate to Standard Pauper as well so as you can see I have been busy brewing. Here the deck list for "Abzan Counter Piling."

4 x Evolving wilds
6 x Forest
6 x Swamps
6 x Plains

Ainok Bond-Kin is a great 2/2 drop for 2 mana. It is efficient and also has the Abzan Outlast mechanic so that it could make itself tougher. This guy could change the battlefield in a hurry. Imagine all the creatures that you have a +1/+1 counter on it gaining first strike! Battlefield tactics change in a hurry when a 1/1 First strike creature could hold off attacking 2/1 and 3/1 creatures.

Aside from creatures like Ainok Bond-Kin and Disowned Ancestor ,  who could put the counters on themselves with the Outlast mechanic  , Satyr Grovedancer was  an addition to this deck so  that you could also give counters to your other Non-outlast creatures. This deck also features 2 of my favorite 3 drops ,the Setessan Oath sworn who gets big really fast when you target it with a Savage punch and kills an opponents creature at the same time. Setessan Oath sworn also becomes a 5/3 monster with a Molting Snake-Skin attached to it. You could regenerate this guy too so that he has added staying power. Heliods Pilgrim is here to fetch the Molting Snake-Skin and the Temporal exiling Armament of Nyx. Big creatures need not be a problem as long as they cannot deal damage to you.

The goal of the deck is to make your creatures big as fast as you can. Powerful creatures rise to the challenge and will be able to smash through any defenses. I love brewing Standard pauper.
