"My Black Green Brew of Death: Garruk/Liliana Unholy Match"

Now that GP Manila is just around the corner I should really be going back to standard play so that I could at least have a decent showing.Griselbrand might be a good enough reason to play but you don't really want to embarass yourself in a stage where there are so many competitors.

The problem is that Standard maybe a bit prohibitive on a tight budget so I had to go and dig up some of the things that I already have and things that I have recently acquired via several Pre-Release events. So I came up with this brew of Green/Black Death.

2 X Urborg , Tomb of Yawgmoth

This is basically a Mono-Black Discard and Mana Acceleration deck.It has several creatures that are in it for the long game while at the same time creating enough disruption in the early games.

Elvish Mystic is there for the mana acceleration. Satyr Wayfarer is there so that you do not miss a single land drop and land drops are important here.You basically filter out 4 cards from your library while setting up a 1 black mana Murderous cut in the process.Be on the look out for the 2 Urborg , Tomb of Yawgmoth since they won't come back to you when they fall to the graveyard.

Early game creatures like this Satyr Wayfarer and Black cat also serve as blockers and graveyard fodder. Black cat and Mardu Skullhunter double as hand decimating creatures that could ruin your opponents long term plans.The reprinted Despise is also a godsend to take care of pesky hard to kill creatures before they even land on the battle field or Planeswalkers that could ruin your day. Liliana Vess could double as an additional agent for discard , an awesome Tutor to fetch you things like spot removal and if you are able to use her Ultimate ability , a win condition as she reanimates all creatures from all graveyard on your side of the battlefield.

Squelching Leeches + Urborg , Tomb of Yawgmoth is a match made in Black Mana heaven. So everything turns into a swamp. The leeches love them and you get to smash face with it with all its putrid squishisness. When I mentioned Black/Green death I meant I was not afraid of my early creatures dying especially if I already have Swarm of Bloodflies in play. It thrives on death. It dishes out death in the end game as well.

Garruk , Apex Predator , basically takes care of other problematic planeswalkers , gives you a 3/3 beast , eats up an annoying creature and you gain life equal to its toughness. It also give you a win condition where all your attacking creatures gain +5/+5 and Trample. Why even the mana producing Elvish Mystic becomes a 6/6 trampling elf! 

So early game  , accelerate to planeswalkers and fatties , block early attacks until the board stabilizes , disrupt opponents hands. Sounds like a plan. Now its about time to playtest this baby! Standard here I come.
