"Sidisi,Brood Tyrant:All Hail The Queen"

"Sidisi,Brood Tyrant:All Hail The Queen"

When I first saw the wedges that would form the 5 great clans of Tarkir I was instantly drawn to what I used to call the Damia, Sage of Stone wedge. Now it has a name, the Sultai brood. It also has a Khan named Sidisi, Brood Tyrant. Well a Queen really. A Naga Queen!

So to start she has the colors of Black, Green and Blue. She costs 4 mana and comes in a 3/3 Naga Shaman body. Since the the Sultai Brood have been spoiled to have undead servants and have the Delve mechanic(exile creatures from your graveyard , creatures and spells cost are less the colorless mana equal to the number of cards exiled this way) Sidisi, Brood Tyrant supports this mechanic in a big way.

Her triggered ability makes her look like a mini titan. When she comes into play or attack you put the top 3 cards of your library into your graveyard.Self milling and eventually powering the graveyard.Filling up the pit so to speak.

Now what happens when you mill one or more creature cards with her triggered ability? You get a 2/2 Black Zombie token that's what. So the moment you play her you may already net creature advantage(assuming that you have tons of creatures in your EDH deck and there is no reason why you should not have tons of creatures with her).A big 3/3 and a 2/2 token. Not bad for 4 mana right?

When she attacks and all goes well and you mill at least one creature you have another 2/2 creature that could be left as a defender on your opponents turn? Ain't that great? Attacking or just coming into play she summons a loyal undead subject to attend her. Very Regal!

If you keep on attacking with Sidisi you might notice that your graveyard would fill up really fast. What this means is that you can easily cast creatures and spells(I am not sure yet if there are spells with Delve costs but I am betting there are) with Delve costs like the Necropolis fiend.

The necromancer in me is happy with this new commander. There are so many Golgari creatures like the Golgari Grave troll that would benefit from this self-mill. Sidisi generates both creature advantage and potential necromantic targets. Even in standard there are a couple of overpriced Zombify effects in Rescue from the underworld and Fated Return. However since the Sultai would have some sort of mana manipulation(still looking for the card that would do this) these cards might be playable and I look forward to being full Necromancer mode in standard.

It is just a shame that Sidisi would not interact with the Golgari in standard but at least I could look forward to playing with the Sultai colors in EDH. Merging the color of my favorites guilds , the Golgari , Simic and Dimir.Hoooboy my ber months are going to be pretty expensive.
