Fallen eyelids struggling from slumber
Sitting down trying to remember your number
Foggy memories of what happened last night
Did we end up loving or down in a fight?

Aching muscles too strained to stretch
Splitting headaches to go with this wretch
Annoyed because I didn't catch your name
Was too busy because my life was being changed

III
Through the haze a remembered smile
the movement of hands moving a hundred a mile
Lips locking , bodies embracing
And something else emerging.

IV
Eyelids opening for the first time
Still feeling that sense of loss
The door opened and there was that smile.
Maybe I won't be alone for some time.
