"Watching Fireflies"

"Watching Fireflies"
by:
Virgilio F. De leon Jr.MD

I
I stand still here near the window
Staring at the Fireflies as they glow
And it seems they reach out to me ,
There through the glass where they float.

II
Will I hear your whispers there?
Of those things you used to say to me
Would  my ears play tricks on me?

Oh this longing in my heart is misery.

III
And like memories that refuse to fade
I stand here thinking of those times
When all I needed was your smile
Where you said that you were mine

IV
But looking now at the fireflies as they glow
They seem dimmer in this world without you
And I sigh because again I can't find myself
Stuck in those the days and nights with you.
