"Rakshasa Vizier:Abusing Delve"

"Rakshasa Vizier:Abusing Delve"

As any necromancer playing a game of EDH will tell you players are always prepared for Graveyard shenanigans. There is the ever present Tormod's Crypt or even a Leyline of the Void on your opponents side. Pharika, God of affliction has even added to the mix as of late.Removing creature cards from a graveyard. Graveyard hate is all around necromancers and often times we don't get anything when our source of power is exiled into the aether. All that is about to change with this new card from the Clan that is fast becoming my favorite. Rakshasa Vizier from the Sultai Brood.

Rakshasa Vizier plays well and gets really powerful with the Sultai broods Delve mechanic. It gets +1/+1 counters whenever one or more cards from your graveyard are removed from the game.At last something for nothing! So you could cast creatures or spells with Delve. You get a creature and you make this 4/4 creature much bigger for each card you Delved.Granted that this is a 5 mana creature with no hexproof it could be dealt with but this one promises to make opponents think twice about their actions.

Rakshasa Vizier also plays well with the Golgari mechanic of Dredge and Scavenge. Dredge to fill up the graveyard and Scavenge to give more +1/+1 counters on it for whatever creature with Scavenge is exiled plus an extra +1/+1 since that card was exiled. So if you exiled Deaths shadow with Scavenge , Rakshasa Vizier gets a +13/+13 counter due to the scavenge and another +1/+1 because something left your graveyard. It becomes a really hefty 18/18 creature in the blink of an eye!

Rakshasa Vizier represents a threat to anyone that would take away a necromancers graveyard since it could threaten with bloody violence. Opponents would now think twice before activating their Tormod's Crypt. You could just imagine how this creature interacts with your opponents Leyline of the void , anything you cast or anything that dies kisses the grave , and gives Rakshasa Vizier a +1/+1. Even Pharika would turn out to be a double threat in your hands. She could remove creature threats from your opponents graveyards while she could give you a 1/1 creature and a +1/+1 counter on your Rakshasa Vizier. Sometimes we fear things but those things sometimes give us insurmountable strength. Just ask the Sultai Brood and Rakshasa Vizier.
