"Sliver Lover Boy: Sliver Pauper 2013"

"Sliver Lover Boy: Sliver Pauper 2013"

After going to Ongkeko and finding "Na-undoy" Predatory Slivers for the price of 2 pesos in their Common bins each it dawned on me that I should really be working on a sliver deck especially since Sir Erick from Mindstorm was kind enough to let me buy 3 full-art Hive Stirrings from his store for 5 bucks each. I was so excited that I just had to make the deck. I remembered that this was one of that Slivers was one of  first decks my brother brewed in order to beat the crap out of my goblins when we were starting out in the game. It is time to talk on Standard Pauper with a little Hive Style.

Here is the tricolored Sliver deck that I hope would turn into a competitive one:

4 X Gruul Guildgate
4 X Selesnya Guildgate
4 X Mountain
6 X Plains
4 X Forest
_____________
22 lands

4 X Predatory Sliver
4 X Sentinel Sliver
4 X Sliver Construct
4 X Elvish Mytique
4 X Blur Sliver
4 X Striking Sliver
2 X Groundshaker Sliver
____________________
26 Creatures

4 X Hive Stirrings
4 X Celestial Flare
4 X Commune with the Gods
________________

12 Spells

Sideboard:
4 X Gods Willing
4 X Ranger's Guile
4 X Lightning Strike
3 X Naturalize

So I think we all know the theme of the deck , draw Slivers and attack with them. Hehehehe

If this is the first time you are reading about Slivers , these are creatures that get stronger with more and more of their kind arriving on the battlefield. These creatures in the common slot are pretty nice but if you have time you could also check out the Elder Slivers which was a big thing in its glorious years in standard.

Now the ideal draw of the deck is to always have a predatory Sliver in your opening hand. 2 of them would be better. 3 would be amazing but that would be wishful thinking. So to analyze that a bit a lone Predatory Sliver on the board means it is instantly a 2/2 creature.

Anything coming in as a 1/1 creature becomes a 2/2 thanks to this guy. The biggest guy in this deck is the Groundshaker Sliver who is a 5/5 monstrosity that also gives trample to all of its hive mates.

Trample , Vigilance , Haste and First strike are all here. The first sliver that you could possibly cast is the Striking Sliver which is a very good early defender due to its First strike , most of the early drops in Standard pauper are 1/1 or 2/1 creatures , they hate attacking with those since  this creature could just block and kills them , if it is still around in the later turns all of your Slivers are first strikers too.

There are a lot of 3 Mana Costing creatures and spells here but that should not be much of a problem since the Elvish Mystic is here to serve as acceleration.

The strenght of this deck is fully manifest when you have at least 2 Predatory slivers and a ton of tokens from Hive Stirrings. Since there are no mass removals in SP(Standard Pauper) and Electrickery and Shirvel cannot touch your Slivers when they are bigger all you need to do is attack when able , chip away at your opponents life total at given times and wait for an overwhelming mass to attack them Hive Style.

I always wanted to play a Sliver deck. Now thanks to the cool people who made this so affordable I can. Enjoy and keep on brewing.
