Giants...Giants Everywhere!

Giants...Giants Everywhere!

One of the things that you always look for in a new set is how it can improve the current decks that you have. And with the constant flow of expansions there are bound to be cards that would make your favorite decks stronger. In this case I am talking about my Mono Green infect deck that still has the foil Glistener Elf and Viridian Corrupter sets that seem to be looking at me to play them. They were my heroes in standard despite the fact that they always got killed off by spot or mass removal. They know how to make a splash , they infect with gusto but often times it has to be several spells targeting one creature for that win. Normally it gets picked off by a well timed Go For the Throat. So what to do?

Enter the Simic Combine and the card that I want to talk about today which is the Biomass Mutation. When I think about this card I often think about Choji from Naruto because he and his clan can make themselves large at any time. Now in some match ups , especially red or black a good Vines of the Vastwood with Kick can save your Infect creatures butt and then deal massive damage. Now for the Biomass Mutation it can take your little guys and pump them up really quick. It doesn't save them from dying to a Murder but with a lot of creatures in play then you are looking at a really good position to wipe out your opponents life with just a couple of hits from the once little guys. Especially if those little guys have infect written all across them.

At a hybrid mana cost of blue or green and an X it can make ALL your creatures into X/X size! it does it all in Instant speed as well. In the blink of an eye your opponents are actually staring at Giant Elves with Infect! It doesn't care if they are the same tribe or not , it just makes them huge for use on Offense or Defense. It can cause an opponent a game if he has no blockers at all. Imagine an Inkwell Nexus animating and flying in as one of those creatures who cannot be blocked.

In Standard , tokenator decks will certainly get a boost from this card. Especially when this is partnered with the Simic Combines Gyre Sage , massive amounts of mana just waiting to G-growth your team to victory. I am often not happy with just one big creature attacking so this card is just really in my radar. I am getting a set. I may not play them all in one deck but it is certainly worth having for very aggressive decks and I do have a lot of those.
