"The Beasts of War: Gruul Beast Pauper"

"The Beasts of War: Gruul Beast Pauper"

Barbarians from all the known planes have always been known to have some sort of influence over animals. Green Mages summon huge beasts to do their bidding from all over. The Gruul mages who have access to Green Mana and Reds Aggression are the perfect beast masters to control such a vast horde of beasts:

Behold the Gruul War beasts:

9 X Forest
9 X Mountains
4 X Gruul Guildgate

Standing tall in this order is the advocate of the beast who has direct control of the Marauding Maul Horn. Not only does he limit the beast from attacking blindly , he makes it bigger with a +1/+1 counter at the end of every turn. Any target beast benefits from him. Ember Beast , Marauding Maul Horn and Slaughter Horn all heed the call of the Advocate in this deck.

Zhur-Taa Druid and Elvish Mystic provide mana acceleration as this deck has a really big mana curve with all those 3 and 4 mana casting creatures. Rubblebelt Maaka may seem out of place here but for 1 red mana for bloodrush it is basically a red Giant Growth. The beasts are already big but it never hurts to have a +3/+3 at instant speed.

Commune with the Gods lets use filter the deck and lets you look for a creature that you might need at any time. Need a pump in stats? Mana Acceleration or just another beast to go with Ember Beast? This 2 to cast sorcery will help you find it. And what would a Red/Green deck would be complete without the Suite of Burn spells in shock and L-Strike.

Summon your beasts.Prepare them for war. Savor the victory.

  1. I like the decklist, particularly commune with the gods though I was thinking if this deck could use a bit of Madcap Skills so you could also get it through commune, since if I am not mistaken, it can also get enchantments. Though I do agree that the curve seems a bit on the high end but then again, it still looks interesting.

    1. Normally I like to keep it in the low 2 and 3 mana range but with the Elvish Mystique and Zhurtaa druid is going to affect that curve...and you are right about Madcap skills...a really good fit...I just wanted to veer away from it because before this deck I made about 4 other decks that had it....hahahahah....I am very fond of that aura...it is also in my modern Red infect...I have 6 sets of Madcap skills hahahah....thanks for the Feedback Raven appreciate it...
