"Agent of the Fates: Black/Green Sligh"

"Agent of the Fates: Black/Green Sligh"

Things are really heating up in the Theros spoiler department some of the best cards are beginning to  emerge. Agent of the Fates is one of those cards. It would allow me to do something that I have always wanted to do and that is Black/ Green Sligh.

Flavor wise this human assassin is so deadly that it doesn't even need to touch a creature to kill it. Heroic seems like a misplaced mechanic to put on it because there is something plainly dark assassination. Oh well I am just happy that this mechanic is here. To top it all off this creature even has death touch so it is quite deadly with or without damaging opposing creatures. Deadly from within reach , deadly from a distance.

Black Green Sligh using this 3 mana 3/2 creature works by activating its heroic ability by targeting it with a spell. The spells don't even need to resolve for heroic to trigger. In this case it would be better if you cast an enchantment spell on it like Rancor or Ordeal of Erebos( Discard effect after 3 turns) or Nylea ( 2 Lands into play after 3 turns) that makes each of your opponents sacrifice a creature. The reason for this is that there is an abundance of great aura's in Theros that could make this creature stronger for a longer period of time.

It can fit in to enchantment heavy black green EDH decks but a standard deck with it as a centerpiece is starting to look good as well. Instants and Sorceries also trigger the ability so you could make opponents sacrifice at the end of their turns with instants like Giant Growth (M14) or Enlarge (M14) the Agent before the beginning of your attack phase. A 10/9 unchallenged creature normally means an early end to a game in standard. In EDH , in concert with your Commander and other Creatures ,  Agent of the Fates could just keep on taking care of your opponents creatures while you pour in battle damage after battle damage.

The reason why this assassin is considered as a very strong card is because of the indestructible gods in Theros. Since they cannot be destroyed by normal means making a player sacrifice them offers a much better option. No fuss.

I have to add though that this card and any strong black creature for that matter already has a balance and that card is Dark Betrayal. Oh well , those playing in standard would simply have to contend with it after sideboarding.

All in all my dream of playing a powerful Black/ Green Enchantment Sligh in Modern or Standard is slowly falling into place. I hope I get one of these in the Pre-Release.
