"Another Land Price Hike Looming"

Fact #1: There are no Dual Lands in the recent Core set of M14
Fact #2: There will be a new set of Dual Lands that would replace the Old in the Theros expansion.
Conclusion: A looming price hike!!!
Playing Competitive Magic has always been a very expensive pursuit. For every expansion and core set that comes out there will always be a changing of the guard when it comes to competitive decks or net decks that will consequently arise .Ever since the semi-announcement/Leakage that there would be a set of new dual lands in Theros and these point of to the original friendly color lands(R/G or B/U) there have been people who have been anticipating the prices to double or triple. This would translate into literally thousands of Magic players who would be clamoring for new cards and most especially the new lands that will be available for the Standard Format. Some would even be hoarding it.
The result is a world wide rise in prices. In the local setting due to land Shortage we could expect the land prices to be a bit higher because we know that even though the local communities need the Lands here there are certain people who export these precious cards back to foreign parts.
With all these factors , playing in Standard would be a lot more expensive in the coming months. The main reason is that the new lands would command a higher price in the market because there are a few of them to go around while the Old Dual lands (Which have been around for almost forever) and have steady supplies will now be moved to other formats like Modern and EDH. Their prices would drop and few notches lower but the new lands because of the short supply will now skyrocket in value. Many Merchants will be happy. Of course we do understand that at the end of the day Magic is a product and Wizards of the Coast is still a business and in order for us to keep on enjoying the game that we love that business should be a profitable one. These news lands and Theros will make sure of that.
Now that you have braced yourselves for the looming land price hike new lands are still very good. I am now speaking from an EDH players standpoint where all the new lands will be additional lands that can now be used to make your current EDH decks so much better. More lands mean more color fixing. Magic will keep coming out with these new lands time and time again and I can see a future where EDH players can actually play with a full set of Dual lands. In the meantime though the new lands will be another option for mana fixing , an expensive option but an option nonetheless and if players wants to keep being competitive then it is an option that they would need to acquire. Upgrading is all part of the game after all. For EDH players though , there is no hurry to acquire the new expensive lands. They can always be had when Standard no longer needs them.
