You came with a marching beat,

And fired straight at my heart—

That smile, an invitation,

Though I was nursing wounds in the dark.

It’s been a decade since,

Of drawing ever closer,

Of chasing dreams through windy days,

And singing beneath summer’s cover.

III

Long past the bloom

Of that Secret garden’s grace,

Its petals claimed a thousand hearts—

Non-Stop from dusk till dawn.

IV

I remember loving you

Through all five seasons’ turn.

I only ever wanted

To keep you in my dreams a while longer.

V

But even when you try to make me smile,

There’s a crack I can’t quite seal.

The dream fades, slow and silent,

Till only its sweetness remains.

Still, the marching beat echoes—

Distant, but steady.

And I will hold on

To the good things. Only the good things.
